File This Under "How in the World Did We All Turn Out Normal?"

Sing it with me, kids...

"Sunny day, keeping the clouds away, on my way to where the air is clean! Can you tell me how to get, how to get to..."

If you could finish that song, you're probably of my generation (or maybe our parents who listened to it every day!).

Now there's Dora, JoJo, Blue, Zak and Wheezy and a whole slew of others. But Sesame Street was groundbreaking children's programming when it debuted in 1969. As it turns out, though, we were scarred for life. Who knew that Oscar, Cookie Monster and Big Bird had such dangerous conditions? How in the world did we learn about stranger danger when Gordon and Bob sat alone with little children and helped them learn "which of these things is not like the other"?

Check out this article!

Cheers!

Sooo sad. It is such an irony that, more than ever before, children NEED strong male role models, but, at the same time, we have to be sooo careful about men who WANT to be in the jobs that deal with children, because their motives aren't always "pure." Soooo sad.
