First Blood

The Diva Homestead has been invaded by a seemingly innocuous, gentle species. They're sweet-looking, cute and fuzzy.
Yes, I'm talking about the Lagomorpha Leporidae.

I prefer to call them the "wascally wabbits".

We started having problems with them last year when they discovered my hostas in the front yard. We're trying to avoid them attacking our lovely tomatoes and herbs and many assorted young trees in the back yard.

However, we're a peaceful people, and haven't resorted to anything more extreme than spraying fox urine around the plant beds.

Yesterday, Princess the Wonder Dog changed all that.

Diva Nana and I were sitting out on the patio, enjoying a break in the humidity and watching the dog run around the yard. Suddenly I heard it.

It.

Yes, it.

It was the most horrible squeaking, squealing sound I can ever remember hearing. It is burned into my eardrums for all eternity.

I immediately knew that Princess had used her wondrous powers for evil, and ran over to the fence.

She had discovered a nest of the creatures, and helped herself to the contents. One of the poor little things had become her toy and was making the noise.

I summoned Diva Husband to come to the rescue of the quickly expiring creature, and he disposed of it. Unfortunately, there was really no way to keep nature from taking her course, and pretty soon Princess had made short order of FIVE of the little bunnies.

I tried to block the aural and visual images from my mind by humming "Circle of Life" from "The Lion King".

It didn't work.

Now that she's had her "First Blood", I'm just hoping Princess the Wonder Dog doesn't go all Rambo on us.

Super Powers

Did you ever get to a time in your life as a parent where you're pretty sure you "got" your kids? I mean, I'm always up for a surprise, but I was feeling pretty sure about my kids.

I know my kids.

I know what they like and what they don't. I know how much sleep they need and when they've had more than enough computer time or television time and need to go outside and shoot a few hoops.

I know their behavior quirks.

Or at least I thought I did.

Recently, they've been using their powers for evil less than good.

The Tweenager (The Boy Formerly Known as Sweet Son #1) has been using his power of super-hearing to his advantage. Of course, what he may think of as "super hearing", I prefer to think of as "selective" hearing, sometimes called "selective deafness".

A conversation might go like this:

Me: "Tweenager, please feed and water the dog."
Tweenager: OK.

Ten Minutes Later...

M: "Tweenager, Princess needs food and water."
T: OK.

Another ten minutes passes...

M: "Why is the dog scrounging in the pantry?"

You get the picture.

Or sometimes I ask him to empty the dishwasher, one of his regular chores. Of course, I make the crucial error of not making him stop what he's doing, look me in the eye and repeat my request back to me.

Silly me.

And don't even get me started on The Manimal's powers.

For one thing, he is able to turn into the World's Sweetest Child less than two seconds after he's just thrown a shoe across the room and managed to hit The Tweenager right in the extremely-sensitive-spot-that-only-boys-have.

Me: "Manimal! You stop that right now! That's not nice!"
Manimal: "I love you so much, Mommy!"

Uh-Huh.

He's not even secretive about his powers. Last night after a fall-on-the-floor-screaming-hysterical temper tantrum, we were talking about good behavior.

He informed me that he only had "Bad Boy Powers" right now. And that he used his "Bad Boy Powers" when people didn't listen to him. I tried to explain that he should use his Big Boy Words and Powers instead of throwing a fit.

He told me he would have to buy some "Big Boy Powers" from the good Droids.

Uh-Huh.

So I told him that if he didn't get some big boy powers and stop using his naughty boy powers, then Daddy and I would be forced to use our "No More Lego Star Wars Power" and possibly our "Spanking Power".

Where is the Justice League when you need them?

Friday Fragments

Yes, I'm still alive. Turns out, growing a baby takes WAY more energy than I remember! Or maybe it was the week I spent in Kentucky for a conference for work. Or perhaps the fact that work is insanely busy during March and April. At any rate, I'm exhausted more often than not, and when I'm not, I'm probably working!

Sweet Son #1 has a new name. Starting today, he'll be known to the interwebz as The Tweenager. While he will always be my Sweet Son #1, I felt it time to give him a name more appropriate to his stage in life. He'll be 10 this summer, and has already begun the behavioral leap into his pre-teen years.

Speaking of The Tweenager, he has spent the past week with Diva Nana and Diva Papa. It was a huge surprise trip for him, as my folks were here for Easter, then we packed his suitcase and told him Monday morning that he was riding back with them. He's had a blast and flies back tomorrow, wrapping up his spring break with a birthday party tomorrow night and the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby on Sunday afternoon.

The Manimal has been spending his brother-less Spring Break week (who knew that preschoolers got a Spring Break?!) playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii, playing with real legos with Daddy, going to the park, torturing Princess the Wonder Dog and wreaking general havoc whenever he feels his home life is going too smoothly.

The Manimal is also fascinated with the fact that Mommy is "gonna poop out a baby". This was the conclusion he reached after I explained that the baby wasn't coming out my mouth or my belly button, and the doctor wasn't going to cut me to get it out (hopefully!). He looked at me with those big brown eyes and after a moment said "You gonna POOP dat baby out?!"

Uhm. Well. Yeah, sort of.

So that's my life in a nutshell. And how've you been? :)

Reprise...

Hard to believe that we've had Princess the Wonder Dog for three years, but it's true! Here's a blast from the past, the post I wrote shortly after she joined the family...

Well, we took the plunge and became dog-owners.

A wonderful local shelter had several pups and we took this one home with us. As near as our vet can tell, she's a Chow-Chow/Rottweiler mix. Our new little fur-child has, of course, added a new dynamic to our happy home.

While my husband grew up with dogs, I never had one, let alone a puppy. So, at 8 weeks old, there was a lot to consider.

Like housebreaking.

It doesn't matter what you call it, teaching the dog to "do her business" outside is a massive undertaking. Having been a high school teacher in a previous lifetime, I (mistakenly) believed that if I could deal with teenagers on a daily basis, then I certainly had the skills to housebreak a puppy.

Well, needless to say, she's the one housebreaking us. Thank goodness for steam cleaners. We've finally come to an arrangement in which about 85% of the time, she goes to the door to let us know that she wants to go outside, 10% of the time, we physically take her outside, and 5 percent of the time, she relieves herself inside, either intentionally or not.

And then there are my human children.

We were most concerned with how Sweet Baby Son would react. We were completely unprepared with Sweet Son #1's reaction, as HE was the one who wanted the dog.

Quite frankly, he's terrified.

Puppies nip when they play, and SS fears for his very life. You'd think she was a full grown pit bull or doberman. We did talk about it and even offered to return the pup to the shelter, but of course, he wouldn't hear of it. He wants a dog, just not one that nips.

SBS, on the other hand, has an agreement with the dog. She's no dummy. She knows who drops food when he eats. So she gets to eat and he gets to beat. He's a bit overzealous when it comes to "petting" the dog. Plus, if she really wants to get away, she runs. Really fast. Like, terror in the eyes fast. He calls her "gog" and gives her hugs and she nips him lightly. Like I said, an agreement.

We are a bit concerned though. In the church nursery one Sunday, he patted one of the other boys on the head and said "goggy". Maybe we need to get his eyes checked.

Overstimulation

I'm finally to the point where looking at my Christmas pictures doesn't give me the cold shakes.

You know what I'm talking about, right? I mean, I love Christmas. Love it. But frankly, it's stressful. So I take the pictures, then don't look at them again until my Christmas decorations are packed safely away until next year.

Of course, that means that half of the toys you'll see in the following pictures are probably down in the land of forgotten toys playroom already.

Just kidding.

These pics are actually some pre-Christmas celebrating with our nieces. Here is our youngest niece, Cutie Pie, with DH. She was fascinated by DH's train around our tree.

Once The Manimal realized that someone else had captured Daddy's attention, he quickly tried to capture Daddy...

...and the spotlight.

SS#1 isn't really defying gravity here. For some reason, Blogger decided to rotate my picture.

Our older niece, The Amazing B., took some time to work on a craft. Just like her Auntie, that one! :)
Thanks to my wonderful Aunt J., a lovely Diva herself, we had some TO DIE FOR, chocolate ice cream over the holidays. If you like chocolate ice cream, you absolutely MUST get your hands on the Zanzibar Chocolate from The Chocolate Shoppe. It's not in any way healthy. In fact, their nutritional information disclaimer reads as follows:

"Don't even ask. This is the best ice cream made in Wisconsin, and it tastes so good because it has gobs of rich Wisconsin cream, tons of real ingredients for boat-loads of luscious flavors. This means it's not low-fat, low-calorie, or low-anything, and that's why everyone loves it. You want nutrition, eat carrots!"

The Manimal demonstrated our collective love of this ice cream.

I got to display one of my favorite Christmas decorations this year. My Grams (mom extraordinaire to Auntie J. and Diva Nana, as well as two fabulous Uncles) made this ceramic Christmas village.

Princess the Wonder Dog even got to celebrate with her gift from "The Bacon Lady" (aka Diva Nana).

Diva Nana has a loathing dislike is not especially fond of dogs. Princess, of course, sensed this right away and took a liking to her. One day when Diva Nana was cooking breakfast, she was feeling generous and gave PTWD a piece of bacon.

The "liking" became a full-blown obsession, and Diva Nana has joked ever since that PTWD must smell bacon every time she sees my mom.

While I love to take pictures, I don't often get the "wow" shot. This is SS#1 opening our family gift, a Wii (Papa & Diva Nana got us the Wii Fit Plus to go with it).

A very intense game of "Hungry, Hungry Hippos" between The Manimal and DH.

Did you know that while you are playing H3, you must yell "HUNGRY, HUNGRY HIPPOS" at the top of your lungs?

It's a rule.

Or so I've been told by a very bossy knowledgeable nearly four year old.

Preschool board games are great for venting one's frustration. Witness our resident police officer and his Whack-a-Mole game.

Be warned, though. Venting one's frustration can also be painful.

Or maybe it was just a massive case of overstimulation.

Tuesday Top Ten

It's not Letterman's Top Ten, but welcome to Ten on Tuesday!

Ten Things I'm Loving Right Now

1. Il Moscato

A delicious, budget friendly version of my fave sparkling moscato. Trader Joe's has it for $9.99 a bottle. Yum-O! An odd little quirk with this brand, which also has Il Prosecco, if you're so inclined, is that it doesn't have a cork. Rather, it must be opened with a bottle opener, so if you're the only one enjoying a bit of the bubbly, be sure to pick up one of these vacuum stoppers to keep it fizzy for next time.

Or you could just finish off the bottle. However, then next morning, you might need this.

2. Home Depot

While I'm not usually a big fan of superstores in general, I don't mind going to Home Depot to pick up the random item for Diva Husband. Last week, Homer and the gang ran this fabulous deal for $3 off LED Christmas Lights. Since DH does light duty in our home, he sent me to pick up lights for our new tree (See below).

3. Ginormous Christmas Trees

Our family room ceiling is 18' tall. For five years, DH has lamented the fact that our Christmas Tree, in all of it's 8' glory, was lost in the height of the room. Thanks to Craigslist, we are the proud owners of an almost-new 12' tree. And our pocketbook is $50 lighter.

Not a bad deal. Pics to follow.

4. Patient (If a wee bit dumb) Dogs

If you've read my musings for any length of time, you'll be familiar with Princess (the Wonder Dog)and her archnemesis, The Manimal. I had really hoped that, with Christmas coming, we could use the age-old threat: "Santa only visits good little boys."

It's not working. Poor pup.

5. Fall Weather

I love Autumn. It's my favorite season of the year. The gorgeous fall colors, crisp air, Friday night bonfires. The whole package. I enjoy the occasional Indian Summer weekend, but I especially love Autumn.

Particularly when Mother Nature remembers that Autumn weather should occur in October/November.

6. A Nine Year-Old Boy

I love SS#1 with all my heart. He's my first, my baby, my little Squirtle. I'm not loving this "I'm always right" stage. But I do love my boy. I love my boy. I love my sweet stubborn boy.

7. Finding the Perfect Gift

I found the absolute perfect gift for my parents. Unfortunately, I can't even give you a clue, since BOTH of them read my blog. I also found the perfect gifts for The Lawyer and my Wonderful SIL, and my nephews, Tex, Sir Falls-a-Lot and Baby Bean. Well, I haven't really found the one for Baby Bean yet, but I'm hoping my luck holds out.

I can give you a leetle clue on my gift for The Lawyer and Wonderful SIL. She actually introduced me to this company. Prices are reasonable and I found a 35% discount code which made my personalization and shipping FREE! :)

And that leads me to...

8. Online Discount Codes

I'm late to the party on this one, I'm sure, but did you know that you can Google to find discount codes for online shopping? They don't always work, and sometimes they bring up expired codes, but it's SO worth trying! I just enter the business name and "discount code" or "coupon" and it brings up the results.

Saving money AND finding great gifts. Merry Christmas to me!

9. Good Books

I've recently finished reading the Mitford books, by Jan Karon. When I was 7, I received the Little House on the Prairie Boxed Set for my birthday. I read them so many times that my mom had to put them away for awhile so I'd read other books.

Last year, she gave them back to me.

I've re-read them twice since then.

I'm pretty sure Mitford is becoming my grown-up version of the Little House books.

10. Vacation

I have exactly four days of work left before I'm off for A WHOLE WEEK. Three days if you don't count today. Then I work for fourteen days and I'm off for TWO MORE WEEKS.

Vacation/PTO days are one of the few best perks of my job! :)

Fragmentation

Friday Fragments?

It's that time again folks! I've come to love Fragmented Fridays in the last week because lately, that's how my brain's been working!

"Honey, wake up! You've won the Nobel Peace Prize!" Yes, apparently those nutty Norwegians have decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize based on President Obama's intentions for the future.

I distinctly remember a certain road to a certain not-so-nice-place being paved with...oh, nevermind.

In other, less worldly news, my new dishwasher arrived! AmenandthankyouJesus! It's beautiful. And quiet. And I don't have to do thirty-eleven loads of dishes every.blessed.day. And did I mention how QUIET it is? And the controls are concealed, which means that The Manimal won't find them for, oh, at least twenty-nine minutes.

And it's quiet. Meet Bosch, the Boss of Dishwashing...

The dentist said that The Manimal has "early childhood caries", which apparently do not result from simply not brushing well. Dr. Teeth said that there's been a huge resurgence, the like of which has not been seen since the 1960's. It's due to a lot of factors, one of which is the prevalence of high fructose corn syrup in foods.

Now, I'm not a Green Queen, like my friend H, but I do try not to buy overly processed foods. Dr. Teeth informed me, though, that HFCS is even in things like GOLDFISH CRACKERS! Uhm, well we're in trouble then, because The Manimal? He luurrrrvvvves goldfish crackers. More than life itself, I sometimes think. And then Dr. Teeth tells me that HFCS is like putting BATTERY ACID on teeth.

And the Corn Refiners Association remind us that HFCS is made from corn, which is natural and healthy.

I respectfully remind the Corn Refiners that ethanol is also made from corn and maybe they'd like me to substitute ethanol for my kids' morning OJ.

High fructose corn syrup is the Devil's Elixir.

It's October 9th. We're expecting our first frost tonight and first hard freeze tomorrow night. I feel it necessary to remind you at this moment that I live outside of Chicago, Illinois, not Fargo, North Dakota.

And the Halloween costumes we bought last week are really not big enough to accommodate a snowsuit underneath the costume.

Sweet Son #1 has earned A's on his last five spelling tests, sort of akin to the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series (which might explain the freezing weather). This is kind of a big deal for him and we're incredibly proud. :)

The Manimal has found yet another way to torture Princess the Wonder Dog. Sooner or later she's going to bite him.

She just has to figure out an escape method for the moment immediately following the bite.

9.03.2009

Where's Nancy Drew When I Need Her?

We've decided to rename our youngest, the one you all know as The Manimal. His given name is one we like very much, but recent events have led us to give him a more, well, appropriate name.

Hector.

As in Hector the Collector.

Allow me to elaborate. Last night, around 9:30 pm, Diva Husband discovered that Crackberry phone was missing. We searched high and low, indoors and outdoors, calling his phone from every other phone in the house. Over an hour was spent looking for the dang thing phone.

All to no avail.

So I called TeeMobile and asked them to check for outgoing calls in the last four hours (thinking that perhaps Princess the Wonder Dog had developed opposing thumbs and was calling her boyfriend Dan the Man Labrador), then asked that they put a restriction on all outgoing calls until we rectified the situation pleaseandthankyouverymuch.

Fast forward to this morning, as I was getting The Manimal his clothes for school. I discovered a blue shopping bag in his secret lair bedroom and just for fun, I checked it out.

And there it was, in all its Blackberry glory.

Along with a computer thumb drive, an empty $25 Visa gift card, a small (but very expensive) magnifying glass and a flashlight.

When I confronted our little perp about the contraband, his simple response was that "Daddy wasn't in his office."

Uh-huh. Case closed.

Now that the case is solved, you can go read about another odd item finding. My bloggy buddy The Original Octamom discovered that one of her kiddos has been experimenting with cryogenics. Thank goodness we live many states apart, because I don't need her kiddos giving The Manimal ANY help...

Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming...

It rained in Chicagoland this weekend. And by rained, I mean monsooned.

Is that a word? Monsooned? As in past tense of monsoon? Yes, I realize the word's a NOUN, but people, if you were anywhere near our fair city this weekend, you'd know what I'm talking about.

Because it wasn't just rain. Rain implies spring. Rain implies growth. Rain is lovely, because it's not snow.

This, my friends, was torrential downpours. For two.whole.days.

It monsooned.

And "raining cats and dogs" didn't really describe it, because clearly, even Princess the Wonder Dog (her new name by the way, since she's long given up--at least I hope--being a Poopy Puppy) didn't really want to venture out. Well, that's not completely true. She ventured out a lot. I swear she went out sixteen times in one hour. For exactly forty-seven seconds each time.

Except for the last time. I made her stay outside for 10 minutes. She's a big girl. She can handle it.

Sweet Son #1 isn't a fan of storms of any kind, especially those that make the sky go green and make our weather radio go off twice in twenty minutes. Fortunately for him, it was only rain, rain, rain for us.

The Manimal was mostly curious about the water that was GUSHING from the sump tubing outside. Literally gushing. Our little sump pump earned its keep this weekend. Unlike a previous storm experience, our basement is nice and dry. Which is nice. I love a good thunderstorm, especially when it stays OUTSIDE.

Hope you stayed dry this weekend!

Nice List

Well, I survived the big weekend at Diva U. I've been there for almost 10 years, and this is my 19th Commencement Weekend. My feet are killing me...

But I must've really been good this year, because when I got home yesterday, my Secret Santa had dropped off an early Christmas package! I participated in Georgie and Amy's Secret Santa Soiree this year, and had a blast putting together my package to send off.

While I'm not positive who had my name, I've got a sneaky suspicion because of the return address. :) Whoever was my Secret Santa did a great job!

When I opened the box, I found these fabulous gift bags...

And when I opened the gift bags, I found these cool metal star ornaments, soy candle and beautiful handmade scarf...
and these fun fuzzy pink socks, Lindor Truffles and tasty (if you're a dog) Heart Treats (see below)...
And if those weren't sweet enough, Secret Santa included gifts for The Manimal and Sweet Son #1...and Princess Poopy Puppy received a gift from the Pug Princes!
I'd've taken a picture of Princess and her Heart Shaped Liver treats, but she devours them so quickly, there was no point! :)
There were a few other wonderful little gifts, like Burt's Bees Lip Balm, fun snowman tissues, Starbuck's Gift Cards (woo-hoo!), and some tasty Buckeye candies, which, sadly, Diva Husband enjoyed all too well. My Secret Santa even thought to get me candy from my home state! :) How cool is that?!
So, Secret Santa, whomever you are, thank you SO much! And Georgie and Amy, count me in for next year! For the rest of you, make sure YOU'RE on the nice list so Santa's good to you too! :)
Stay tuned tomorrow for The Manimal's Christmas Wish. It's gonna be some good clean (well, maybe not clean) fun!

11.14.2008

Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mild

Must be tasty as well. Yes, dear friends, my dog has now eaten a full two-thirds of the Holy Family (and some of the livestock). I swear to you that I'm taking measures to avoid these results, but I'm pretty sure that The Manimal WANTS her to eat his toys.

I've learned three things from these acts of dog eats (plastic) man.

1. I need to buy some more serious rawhide chews.
2. The Manimal understands the gift part of Christmas better than I give his little nearly three year old mind credit.
3. Clearly the Little People Nativity means more to me than the boys!

11.09.2008

The Donkeys may have won the election...

But now ours is headless, thanks to Princess.

Clearly her penchant for Little People is out of control.

10.22.2008

She Must've Been REALLY Hungry...

Today we'll be discussing a member of the Diva family who has lately gotten very little blog time.

Our dog.

Princess Poopy Puppy will celebrate her second birthday next month, and thanks in no small part to the little men (monsters) in her life, she still acts much like a puppy. She loves to run and jump. She follows me EVERYWHERE (as an aside, I never truly understood "follow me around like a puppy" until she came along). Sometimes I run to the bathroom and slam the door just to get some privacy, otherwise between she and the boys, I'd NEVER have any time to myself!

And much like a puppy, she must chew. It's got to be in her genes. I've learned to keep her "rolling in rawhide" as it were, otherwise, nothing is safe. Some of her favorite things (victims) include socks, towels, rolls of toilet paper, stuffed animals. You get the idea.

Generally, I don't get too angry. She is, after all, just a puppy. And if I forget to keep her chew toys stocked, that's certainly not her fault. And if she chews up a toy or two, that will just teach SS#1 and The Manimal not to leave things lying around on the floor.

Enter the Little People. I'm talking about those of the Fisher Price variety rather than my offspring. Now, when I was their age, little people were about two inches high, with bodies and heads of wood. Then someone decided that they were choking hazards and the fine folks at FP decided to make them bigger. While I don't think they've quite got the charm of the originals, they're still pretty cute.

Especially the Nativity Scene.

I love our FP Nativity. The boys love our FP Nativity, although perhaps not quite as much as I do. It is just so darn cute, with the little Mary & Joseph, Three Kings, Shepherd, Angels. You get the idea. There is a little perch atop the stable for an angel, and when you push on her, the stable plays "Away in a Manger". The Manimal likes to experiment with various "angels" and thus far his favorite to put on top of the stable is Baby Jesus (who also seems to like to ride in the FP LP Helicopter). Too cute.

Last week, however, we suffered two great losses.

Princess must be hankering for beef, as SS#1 found remnants of the cow. Yes, she ate the Holstein, head and hooves. She was severely reprimanded for this little snack.

But just when we thought she'd learned her lesson, she committed the worst of all possible creche-related snacking sins.

She ATE the Baby Jesus.

Yes, my friends, Princess consumed, body and bed, the figure of Our Savior.

Now, the Manger toys are still cute, but without a Baby Jesus, something seems to be missing. And who will be there to "low" with the other animals if the cow is gone?

I hope God forgives doggie sins.

And please God, help me find a new Baby Jesus and cow.

Amen.

Because It's Fun

Lately, when I ask The Manimal why he did something naughty (e.g. bouncing on Princess Poopy Puppy like a riding toy or giving one of SS#1's Webkinz a bath in the new wading pool or pinching Diva Husband with his tiny little razor-sharp fingernails), his answer has been "Because is fun, Mommy!"

It is not, perhaps, the best use of my energy to ask a not-quite-two-and-a-half year old to think critically about his behavior.

Why am I telling you this? I've created a second blog.

Why, you ask?

Ask The Manimal.

6.30.2008

Out of the Mouths of Babes

One of The Manimal's newest hobbies is jumping. As in, from one sofa to the other, down the stairs, from the ottoman to the floor. You get the picture. When he jumps, he hollers, "O-PAH!" As is the case with many Americans, my children have a variety of ethnicities in their family tree. Greek, however, is not one of them.

Both Sweet Son #1 and The Manimal have sweet, chubby, pinchable cheeks. The kind you want to "eat up". When I cuddled The Manimal and nibbled on his cheeks, saying "I'm going to eat you up!", he shook his finger sternly and said "Mom, I not food!"

Overheard from back seat of the family car: "Manimal, say 'you're a psycho!" And, of course, the reply, "SS#1, you a psy-cho!" Sigh.

Near the end of the school year, SS#1 was recapping his day. I asked what he had done in math class, and he got really excited. "Mom, we learned time today!" I was slightly baffled, and said "Didn't you learn how to tell time earlier this year?" He rolled his eyes and said "No, MOM! We learned TIME, like two TIME two is four!"

Being the second child, The Manimal speaks extremely well. Full sentences, big words, the whole nine yards. He only needs to hear a word once before it becomes a regular part of his vocabulary. He came downstairs on Saturday and informed me that he'd made GINORMOUS poop.

Motherhood is so educational.

6.02.2008

In Case You Weren't Aware

So I was in the shower this morning and had a coughing fit. The Manimal came into the bathroom and asked "Mom, you OK?" I assured him that I was, and off he went.

A minute later, he came in and asked "Mom, Pincess OK?" Since I hadn't heard the dog barking, coughing or puking, I assured him that both the dog and I were fine.

Two seconds later, he'd returned to the bathroom. "Mom," he said. "Pincess don't talk."

Dog: It's What's for Dinner

NOT! But apparently pets can be considered an additional food source, as can leather furniture or clothing. Who knew? Evidently we could survive for nearly 3 months, if for some reason, we couldn't leave our home!
