Run, Run As Fast As You Can!

After much pleading from Sweet Son #1, I purchased one of those pre-baked Gingerbread House Kits. We'd done one a couple of years ago and I felt since he was older, it would be easier.

I suppose it could be because I'm older too. Or maybe it's just the stress of the holiday season, but somewhere along the way, I apparently forgot that I have a second son. One who is at the age where he must participate in EVERYTHING that his big brother does.

I do, however, have photographic evidence (albeit with the wrong dates on the pics...a situation I've FINALLY figured out how to remedy) that they BOTH contributed to this project.

And further evidence that at least one of them (who shall remain nameless) ate more than his share of royal icing.
But when all was said and done, we had a Gingerbread House that would've made Hansel drool.

And one very happy big brother.

And one less bottle of Riesling in my fridge...

Oh yes, SS#1 was insistent that he be able to copy the box and was a bit miffed that I let The Manimal put some of the decorations on IN THE WRONG PLACE!

WOW! I am so impressed!

1. That you got through it!
2. That the kids didn't vomit after eating the icing (or did they?)
3. That your house actually stood up (I've never mastered that feat!)
4. That is looks so cute!

What brand kit did you use? I've tried the Wilton ones but it was a complete diaster. I've tried doing it homemade and it was a complete disaster. This year we are attempting a craft foam one and it is a complete disaster.

Beth--thanks so much. I credit SS#1 and the Riesling! ;) I think I may have to post an update pic, though, and remind people about the perils of non-hardened royal icing...

T & T...this is only the second year we've done one, and frankly, had it just been SS#1, I probably wouldn't have needed the wine! ;)
